ESSELUNGA TO JOIN AMS SOURCING
The European buying alliance, AMS Sourcing B.V. (AMS) is pleased to announce its expansion with another renowned retailer. The Italian retailer Esselunga will join AMS from January 1st 2009. Esselunga is the fastest growing and most successful retailer in Italy with a turnover of more than EURO 5 billion. Last month AMS already announced the entry of Systeme-U (France) and Delhaize Group (Europe).
With the addition of these new members, AMS will have 14 retail members covering 22 European countries and has combined annual retail sales of approximately EURO 100 billion.
AMS, one of the largest buying alliances of European food retailers, was established in 1988 with the purpose of realizing best purchasing terms and conditions across an extensive range of food and non-food products for its members. More than 100 million customers are shopping in more than 10,000 AMS member stores every week. AMS currently consists of 11 leading retailers: Ahold (The Netherlands), Booker (United Kingdom), Dansk Supermarked Gruppen (Denmark), Elomas*) (Greece), Hagar*) (Iceland), ICA (Sweden), Jerónimo Martins (Portugal), Kesko (Finland), Migros (Switzerland), Morrisons (United Kingdom) and Superquinn (Ireland).

SYSTÈME-U AND DELHAIZE TO JOIN AMS SOURCING

With the addition of these new members, AMS will have 13 retail members covering 21 European countries and has combined annual retail sales of approximately EURO 95 billion.
